Fine line. . .

I feel like there is a fine line between being good at saving money and being a crazy lady that needs to be on a TLC show.

I love free stuff so much.  I haven't signed up for free samples for a while because it takes so long for the stuff to come and by the time it comes we will have moved again. But I love signing up for free stuff.  Andrew thinks I'm weird, but I just get so excited when my free sample of shampoo or gum arrives.  And we got a lot of free formula when Riley was born.

It's also kind of hard to decide if it is worth my time to save a little money.

The apartments we are in don't have washers and dryers in them so I have to take them over to the laundry facility and pay $1.40 to wash and $1.45 to dry each load.  Since it is so dry here we have decided to hang dry our clothes.  It takes most of the day, but it saves $1.45 each load.

I also have a hard time buying baby food.  It's at least 50 cents for a dinky little jar, also Riley doesn't even like it.  I tried boiling carrots and smashing them up but he didn't like it either.  I then read something online where I could bake the carrots in tin foil for half an hour at 375 degrees and the blended it up with a little water.  Success!  Riley loved it.  But it was kind of a lot of work for just 50 cents.  If Riley liked the stuff in the jar I don't know if it would be worth it, but he doesn't.  So I guess it is.

I also go to different stores to buy different groceries.  I buy frozen things at one store, fruits and vegetables at another, and everything else at another.

I would use coupons, but our printer didn't fit in our car.

There are about a dozen more things that I would do if we had more room, or a giant freezer, or if we weren't going to be moving two more times this year.

It's not like we are poor, I just want to do my part at saving money.  I also want to save it for something like a house.

I don't feel like I'm a crazy lady that should be on TLC, but I feel like if I don't be careful I could be.  :)

  1. Wes always thinks I'm nuts for wanting to get good deals and/or free stuff, too. Guys just don't understand. :) I go to multiple stores too (Costco for some stuff, Smith's for other stuff, Walmart for other things.) And yes, baby food is ridiculously expensive, but if you think about it, it's only about .75 cents a day or so to feed your baby so that's not so bad if you think of it that way. :)

Go you for saving money. You aren't a crazy lady...until you start dumpster diving for coupon inserts.
