The First Step to Being a Crazy Lady

Last week I decided I was going to make my own refried beans.  Ambitious, I know.

They are about $1.50 a can, and I know that in the grand scheme of things an extra 75 cents for beans isn't really that big of a deal, but I felt like it was a little outrageous.  I found a recipe online that looked pretty easy and bought some dry pinto beans the next time I was at the store, for a dollar a pound.

Andrew came home that day to a crock pot full of boiling beans.  He looked concerned and asked me what I was doing.  I told him my plan to make my own refried beans and he decided I was crazy.  "What's next?" he asked. "Are you going to start making your own laundry detergent?"

The thought of making my own detergent had actually crossed my mind.  My mom does it.  And I had been planning on it once we get a bigger place with more room.   So I told him I probably would.

But according to Andrew this is the first step to being a crazy lady. He said if I'm crazy enough to make refried beans and laundry detergent I will probably start making my own deodorant.  Which I would do. . . if it was cheap and worked well, of course.

Anyway my beans were delicious and I am planning on making them again.

Also here's the recipe if you were curious .

Walking

Even though I've been telling people that Riley is 9 months for a few weeks now, he doesn't actually turn 9 months until tomorrow.

He has strong legs, good balance, and determination those combined helped him take his first few steps Wednesday night.  The most steps he has taken at a time is about 17.  It's fun, but I know he will be running away from me very soon.

Steelers Game

Last week we went to a Steelers game.  Pre-season was the way to go!  The tickets were way cheaper and it wasn't on a Sunday.  They played against the Carolina Panthers, who shouldn't be confused with the Pittsburgh Panthers. . . that wouldn't even be fair.

Our friends watched Riley (because apparently everyone needs a ticket no matter how old they are, I bet they would even charge you if you were too pregnant).  Thanks again!

It was fun and I guess we are now true fans, or something.

Our seats were so good you could see the whole field without even moving your head, that makes things easier if your nose starts bleeding.  :)
