I made this!

I made this blanket!  Andrew helped, also his mom (via skype).  But this was my first attempt at quilting, and I am pretty proud of myself.

Also we are still in Washington D.C.  It has been raining pretty hard all day, but we are safe, more hurricane updates to follow.

Across the Country

Andrew and I left for our journey across the country Friday after he got done with work, we decided to do it in four days and not kill ourselves by driving spreading it out more.  Our first night we spent in Shamrock, Texas.  The drive from Albuquerque to Shamrock is pretty boring.  There is a lot of desert and not a whole lot of anything else.

Saturday we started entering states I had never been to before, Oklahoma and Missouri.  Oklahoma is like Northern Texas with toll roads.  Missouri is the most humid place I've ever been also it was green.  We spent the night in Springfield, Missouri.

Sunday we went through the rest of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.  I had also never been to Illinois or Indiana.  We stopped at the Gateway arch in St. Louis.  It was pretty cool, we rode to the top and got to see really far.

After that we crossed the Mississippi River.  When I was little someone (I can't remember who, but I feel like it was a primary teacher) told me the Mississippi River was two miles across and you couldn't see the other side if you were standing on the bank.  Earlier this year I didn't know how anyone could make a bridge that big, Adrianne, my friend, informed me that there was a bridge and it was possible to cross, so I wasn't too worried about crossing (thanks).  But I was very disappointed when I saw it, so was Andrew (he was told it was one mile across).  Maybe in some places it is wider, but not in St. Louis.  I guess the only time before this that I was actually effected by this false information was while playing Oregon Trail,  I may have reconsidered paying the $5 ferry fee if I wasn't so worried that I would be fording a two mile wide river.

Illinois was green and had lots of corn.  Indiana was also green, with corn, and the worst traffic ever.  We spent the night in Indianapolis.

The new states for Monday were Ohio and West Virginia.  We also ended in Pennsylvania, but I'd been there before (twice).  Ohio had a lot of corn also, but it was pretty.  West Virginia had a lot of trees and was really pretty.  We stayed the night in Pittsburgh at a hotel, because our apartment won't be ready for us until September 1st.

Since we didn't have anything we needed to do in Pittsburgh we decided to go to Washington D.C.  We left this morning and drove through Virginia and Maryland (both new states for me).  I will write more about our trip later.  But we made it safe and are having a great time!

Slight Change of Plans

We were planning on starting our adventure across the country today, but Andrew's work wants him to stay another week instead of him going to an orientation.  Since we were planning on moving we ended our lease at our apartment and we are spending the next week in another extended stay hotel.  It is really small, but we will survive, and it's only a week.

After the week we are planning on driving to Pittsburgh in four days and then going to Washington D.C. for a few days.  Then Andrew will start grad school on the 29th.  We will move into our new apartment September 1st and then go to Utah on the 2nd to visit family and go to some weddings for about a week.  Then we will be home in Pittsburgh for a while.  We've got a lot of traveling and adventures coming up.  It's also going to be rough to be homeless for a while, but fun.

So we went to the doctor today. . .

I have had dreams that our baby is going to be a boy, so obviously going into this appointment I was sure that our baby was a boy, but Andrew was pretty sure it was going to be a girl.

Andrew and I went to my last appointment in Albuquerque today and we had my 20 week ultrasound.  It was really fun to see our baby and it was big enough that we could actually see the head, spine, and arms. We also got to see 3D pictures of our baby.   It just makes all of this more real.

Oh, so our baby is going to be a boy.   We are both super excited!
